Find is a visual novel triller made by me and Kitty Chen. Inspired by the challenges of pandemic life and the pressures of the modern world, our game follows the story of a stranger who contacts you through online chat. Can you evade his investigation, unveil his past, and identify him before it's too late?

Beginning
Creating a visual novel game on Unity Engine was an unknown realm for us, we needed to make assets for every scene that happened in the game, write and manage scripts that ran multiple paths.
Writing
At first, we use Word to manage our dialogues in the game, however, it soon becomes hard to follow as we have too many paths and conditions. Luckily I found the mind map software Xmind is ideal for such cases.
After the first version of the script was made, we found that it was too short (we aimed for 10-15 minutes experience) and could offer more player agency and varied gameplay. Then I wrote the second version with richer content and more branches in mind.
Assets Creation
Though at the beginning we assessed our capability, and came up with the idea to set the most stage in chat app. However, there is still plenty of work to do, we need protagonist's room at different angles, street outside of that room, the hallway that can be seen in the peephole, and more.
I eventually used SketchUp to fully model the scenes and added filters in Photoshop to make it like painting.
